Tegoroczny festiwal inaugurujemy utworem „Weaving Our Lives” („Splatając nasze życia”) autorstwa poetki i pieśniarki Alexy Sunshine Rose. Tytuł tej piosenki staje się mottem, które niczym nić przewija się przez program i łączy jego kluczowe wątki:

Setna rocznica urodzin Siegfrieda Lenza stanowi okazję do zgłębienia znaczenia tego pisarza jako twórcy mostów pojednania między Niemcami a Polską. Poprzez dyskusje, czytania, panele, wystawy i pokazy filmowe przybliżymy świat Siegfrieda Lenza. Jubileusz 10-lecia festiwalu STN:ORT uczcimy wydarzeniem „European Choir Encounter” z udziałem chórów Pasjonata oraz Sing!Sing! Chamber Choir, koncertem „Sound Circle in the Park”, interaktywnym czytaniem poświęconym idei pokoju dla wszystkich oraz tańcem. Liczymy na liczny udział dzieci w warsztatach na wysokim poziomie merytorycznym. Tkactwo i nici życia stanowią głębokie metafory ludzkiego losu, biegu życia oraz wzajemnych powiązań wszystkich rzeczy. Motyw ten pojawia się w wielu kulturach, mitach i religiach. Wyrazistym przykładem jest tragiczna postać Filomeli z mitologii greckiej – tkaczki, która została zgwałcona i uwięziona przez trackiego króla Tereusa. Utkała ona szatę dla swojej siostry Prokne (żony króla), w której zawarła obrazy przedstawiające doznane przez siebie cierpienia; Prokne odczytała to przesłanie i uwolniła Filomelę z niewoli.

Najnowsze badania wskazują, że korzenie matematyki i nauki sięgają tkactwa – praktyki znanej nam jako rzemiosło, forma sztuki, element mitologii i legend, a także jako dziedzina o znaczeniu magicznym i rytualnym.

Tradycyjne techniki tkackie, wzory i wyroby włókiennicze są głęboko zakorzenione w kulturach lokalnych i przekazywane z pokolenia na pokolenie jako wyznaczniki tożsamości. W sensie przenośnym lub metaforycznym „tkanie” oznacza łączenie społeczności, wymianę międzykulturową czy wspólne tworzenie ponad barierami językowymi.

Na Mazurach tkactwo ma długą i bogatą historię, ściśle związaną z wiejskim stylem życia, rzemiosłem i sztuką włókienniczą. Region ten słynie zwłaszcza z tkania na tabliczkach – historycznej techniki niewymagającej krosna – oraz z charakterystycznych, tradycyjnych wzorów mazurskich. Muzeum Kultury Ludowej w Węgorzewie stanowi główne centrum tego rzemiosła w województwie warmińsko-mazurskim i słynie z bogatej kolekcji tradycyjnych mazurskich wyrobów tkackich. Wielu młodych artystów na nowo odkrywa tkactwo jako medium dla swojej twórczości. Warsztaty organizowane w ramach festiwalu STN:ORT 26 podkreślają znaczenie tego wyjątkowego rzemiosła dla regionu Mazur. Warto również wspomnieć o postaci tkaczki Sonji Turk z powieści Siegfrieda Lenza *Heimatmuseum*; pełni ona funkcję literackiej metafory, obrazującej tkanie opowieści jako sposób na przeciwstawienie się przemijaniu.

Mit dem Song Weaving our Lives der Lyrikerin und Sängerin Alexa Sunshine Rose eröffnen wir das diesjährige Festival. Der Titel des Songs wird zum Motto, zieht sich wie ein Roter Faden durch das Programm und bindet die Schwerpunkte zusammen:

Der 100. Geburtstag von Siegfried Lenz ist Anlass, die Bedeutung des Schriftstellers als Versöhner zwischen Deutschland und Polen herauszuarbeiten. In Gesprächen, bei Lesungen und auf Podien, in Ausstellungen und mit Filmvorführungen stellen wir den Kosmos Siegfried Lenz vor. Wir feiern 10 Jahre STN:ORT Festival mit der Europäischen Chorbegegnung mit den Chören Pasjonata und Kammerchor Sing!Sing!, dem Sound-Circle im Park, einer interaktiven Lesung zum Thema Frieden für Alle, wir schwoofen und freuen uns auf die Beteiligung vieler Kinder bei hochkarätigen Workshops. Wir tauschen uns aus über lokale Lebens-Geschichten und nicht zuletzt wird das Teatr Chochół mit seinen internationalen Ensemblemitgliedern die spannende Bildungsreise des späteren Schlossherren Ahasverus von Lehndorff lebendig machen.

Das Weben und die Fäden des Lebens sind tiefgründige Metapher für das menschliche Schicksal, den Lebensverlauf und die Verbundenheit aller Dinge. Das Motiv findet sich in vielen Kulturen, Mythen und Religionen. So z.B. die tragische Figur aus der griechischen Mythologie, Philomela, eine Weberin, vergewaltigt und eingesperrt vom Thrakerkönig Tereus. Sie webt ihrer Schwester Prokne, der Ehefrau des Königs, ein Gewand, in das sie die Bilder ihrer Leidensgeschichte einwebt. Prokne versteht die Botschaft und befreit Philomela aus ihrem Gefängnis.

Neue Forschungsarbeiten führen das Weben, das wir als Handwerk, aus Kunst und Mythologie, von Legenden und von magischer und ritueller Bedeutung kennen, auf die Ursprünge der Mathematik und der Wissenschaft zurück.

Traditionelle Webtechniken, Muster und Textilien sind tief in lokalen Kulturen verwurzelt und werden als Identitätsmerkmale von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben. Im übertragenen oder metaphorischen Sinn steht das „Weben“ in vielen internationalen Sprachen für die Verknüpfung von Gemeinschaften, interkulturellen Austausch oder das gemeinsame Schaffen.

In Masuren hat das Weben eine lange, traditionsreiche Geschichte, die eng mit der ländlichen Lebensweise, dem Handwerk und der Textilkunst verbunden ist. Die Region ist besonders für das Brettchenweben, eine historische Technik, die ohne Webstuhl auskommt und ihre traditionellen masurischen Webmuster bekannt. Das Museum für Volkskultur in Węgorzewo ist die zentrale Anlaufstelle in der Woiwodschaft Ermland-Masuren. Das Museum ist berühmt für seine reichhaltige Sammlung traditioneller masurischer Webprodukte. Viele junge Künstler haben das Weben als Technik für ihre Kunst wiederentdeckt. Die Workshops die im Rahmen des STN:ORT 26 Festivals stattfinden unterstreichen die Bedeutung, die dieses einmalige Handwerk für Masuren hat. Nicht zuletzt spielt in Siegfried Lenz Roman Heimatmuseum, die Weberin Sonja Turk eine gewichtige Rolle als eine Art literarischer Metapher, um das Weben von Geschichten gegen die Vergänglichkeit zu beschreiben.

The 100th anniversary of Siegfried Lenz’s birth provides an opportunity to highlight the writer’s significance as a bridge-builder between Germany and Poland. Through discussions, readings and panel discussions, exhibitions and film screenings, we will explore the world of Siegfried Lenz. We are celebrating 10 years of the STN:ORT Festival with the European Choir Encounter featuring the Pasjonata and Sing!Sing! chamber choirs, the Sound Circle in the park, an interactive reading on the theme of ‘Peace for All’, we’ll be dancing, and we’re looking forward to lots of children taking part in top-class workshops. We’ll be sharing local life stories, and last but not least, Teatr Chochół, with its international ensemble members, will bring to life the fascinating educational journey of the future lord of the castle, Ahasverus von Lehndorff.

Weaving and the threads of life are profound metaphors for human destiny, the course of life and the interconnectedness of all things. This motif is found in many cultures, myths and religions. Take, for example, the tragic figure from Greek mythology, Philomela, a weaver who was raped and imprisoned by the Thracian king Tereus. She wove a garment for her sister Prokne, the king’s wife, into which she wove images of her story of suffering. Prokne understood the message and freed Philomela from her prison.

Recent research traces weaving – which we know as a craft, from art and mythology, from legends and from magical and ritual significance – back to the origins of mathematics and science.

Traditional weaving techniques, patterns and textiles are deeply rooted in local cultures and are passed down from generation to generation as markers of identity. In a figurative or metaphorical sense, ‘weaving’ stands in many international languages for the interconnection of communities, intercultural exchange or collaborative creation.

In Masuria, weaving has a long and rich history, closely linked to rural life, craftsmanship and the art of textiles. The region is particularly renowned for ‘brettchenweaving’, a historic technique that requires no loom, and for its traditional Masurian weaving patterns. The Museum of Folk Culture in Węgorzewo is the central hub in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The museum is famous for its extensive collection of traditional Masurian woven products. Many young artists have rediscovered weaving as a technique for their art. The workshops taking place as part of the STN:ORT 26 festival highlight the significance of this unique craft for Masuria. Not least, in Siegfried Lenz’s novel *Heimatmuseum*, the weaver Sonja Turk plays a significant role as a kind of literary metaphor for weaving stories to counter transience.
